See if the Huawei Mate X2 survives a durability test - GSMArena.com news - GSMArena.com

Foldable smartphones are generally considered to be more fragile than 'normal' ones, unlike gaming phones for example - then again it turns out that among the latest batch of the latter, two out of three do snap in two or three parts when bent.

So you may be thinking that foldables should fare even worse in such testing, but is that actually true? Let's find out. Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel is back at it again, and this time the device being 'durability tested' is Huawei's latest and greatest, the Mate X2. Will it scratch? Burn? Bend? Take a look below.

In case you couldn't watch for some reason, here's the rough outline of what happened. The front display is covered by glass, so it scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves showing up at level 7.

On the inside, however, there's a plastic screen, so marks show up at level 2, with deeper grooves at level 3. Even a fingernail can leave marks. The outer display takes an open flame for about 25 seconds, before going white and not recovering. The inside panel goes black from the flame after about 10 seconds, and also doesn't recover.

Finally, the bend test. The phone doesn't bend from the 'right' direction, nor does it from the 'wrong' one. That's quite impressive, especially compared to the aforementioned gaming phones. This one also folds, after all.
