New Leak Hints At Huawei Mate 40 Pro Design With Scintillating Waterfall Display - Forbes

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be revealed in the coming weeks, and the Chinese brand will want to make a splash with its new hardware. Where better to start than with the display? A newly leaked screen protector has appeared on Weibo and was spotted by Huawei Central. Allegedly, it is for the Mate 40 Pro, and the shape says that the next phone will have a display that cascades over the sides, like a waterfall.

If you’ve seen the Huawei Mate 30 Pro in the flesh, you’ll know that its display is very eye-catching. Like several other phones, the screen isn’t flat but curves over the long edges.

But where other phones manage at most a tiny overflow from the front to the sides, on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, it’s remarkable how far down the sides the screen stretches.

It’s a real wow factor which means that, when you see it, you can’t quite stop talking about it.

Look at the phone from the side and the waterfall is what you see. Put it face down and the over-the-edge screen is still clearly visible.

It’s a dazzling look, and the best example of a curved-edge display I’ve seen.

So, the suggestion that Huawei is repeating the experience on its next phone is welcome news. And it gives us more idea of what the phone might look like.

On the Mate 30 Pro, there are no physical volume buttons – the screen goes so far there’s no room for buttons. Instead, the display’s touch-sensitive capabilities were called into play and virtual controls appear on the edge of the phone when you touch it. Cleverly, this means you can tap either the right or left edge to call up the volume controls, versatility that physical buttons can’t match.

There have been other rumors already about the upcoming Mate 40 Pro flagship phone, including a 90Hz refresh rate on that waterfall display, an advanced camera and more.

There’s still time for more details to leak, so please check back.
